Richard is a playwright, composer, and lyricist, and a member of the Dramatists Guild of America. Meldio grew directly out of his own creative work — not a market study, but a specific problem he ran into while trying to produce his own material.
Meldio was conceived after Richard spent months trying to produce an audio version of his own musical using existing AI technologies, and discovered that no platform existed to orchestrate the entire workflow. The individual pieces — text-to-speech, voice selection — already existed as tools. What didn't exist was a way to turn a full script, with multiple characters, into one coherent, finished audio experience without manually generating and assembling every line by hand.
That gap — between having the raw AI voice tools and having an actual finished, multi-character production — is the problem Meldio was built to close.
"The idea didn't come from a market study. It came from trying to build an audio version of my own musical — and discovering that no platform could do the job."
"The Interview," the demo featured on the Meldio homepage, was produced entirely through the same Quick Studio pipeline available to anyone using the site today — nothing about it was hand-polished after the fact.
